Name: Samantha Jacobey
Age: 44
What’s your star sign? Scorpio
Where are you from? West Texas
A little about yourself `ie your education, Family life, etc I hold a BS in Business Management, and am a certified Science Teacher (high school). I have four sons, ages 12, 19, 21, and 24, and one granddaughter aged 1. I am looking forward to the end of this school year, as I am taking a few years off to write full time, and just be grandma.
Lilian: Tell us your latest news? I have a big summer coming up – I have the boxed set out for my New Life Series, with the first three books at one low price to kick it off. Then I have a new release every three weeks or so starting with Rendered, from my new Irrevocable Series, on June 2nd.
Are you a heels lady or boots? What, no tennis shoes? I am always on the run, so if I have to pick between the two, I would have to go with boots.
Lilian: When and why did you begin writing? About eighteen months ago, I started putting the story I had been dreaming about for over twenty five years on paper… that’s Tori’s story, the New Life Series. After that, it has exploded and I love it. Why? Because I couldn’t keep it in any longer, and it was so cathartic to let that story go and release it to the world.
Lilian: When did you first consider yourself a writer? I’m not really a writer, I’m a story teller… Stories from the lives of people, which begin when they are born and end when they die (more or less) and the book... is a segment of that time... so even though the book ends... the story always goes on to something else... What I do is share part of that journey with you...
Lilian: How did you come up with the title? I have gotten smarter about this… I pick titles that are short and relevant, and I look to see where else that title has been used so I can decide if I want to go ahead with it, or pick another.
Lilian: What inspired you to write your first book? My first story originated from a news broadcast about a girl kidnapped by a gang of bikers… I added a lot of imagination to explain how, why, and whatever to tell her story… That’s Tori’s story.
Lilian: Do you have a specific writing style? I think that I do. So far, my longest novel is only sixty-one thousand words, and most are only in the fifties… I detest a book I cannot comfortably read in one day. To pull this off, I don’t waste a great deal of time on extraneous detail; every scene, every description, every conversation brings something out in the plot. Call me conservative in that regard.

Lilian: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Often there is, but it is usually very subtle; not everyone will get it, and that’s ok. It’s a great story, either way.
Lilian: How much of the book is realistic? Most of my books are extremely realistic; of course, the paranormal about angels, not so much. I do like to keep things as plausible as I can, so if my character is at a particular place, it probably does exist and I have either been there, or located it on google and checked it out.
Lilian: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Very often, they are a combination of those things. Having lived in an abusive relationship for many years, much of what is in the New Life Series is very real to me, on so many levels. As I said before, it was very cathartic letting it go, and I think doing that has freed my mind to dream about these other stories that are coming to print.
Lilian: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? There are so many out there, I could never choose between them. Not only for their work and dedication to the craft of writing, but as individuals and friends, the community as a whole has wowed me. I love being a part of it.
Lilian: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? Haha, I always go back to Charles Dickens; I think he was my first love. Simplistic, descriptive, timely, and stories that have stayed with me after all these years.
Lilian: What book are you reading now? Tropical Dreams, by Kelly Cozzone.
Lilian: What are your current projects? I have started working on my witch book for Halloween, and after that I am writing a Christmas Dark Elf Story.
Lilian: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members. I am part of the Crazy Lady group… there are 27 of us; we formed over a year ago, and can always count on each other for support. And of course I have a great team of fans who are there to help out with contests, teasers, and events.
Lilian: Do you see writing as a career? Absolutely! I released six books in 2014, there will be nine in 2015 and I have ten slated for 2016. I am so pleased to be able to produce at this level and to see the interest in my work.
Lilian: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? No, my latest book is perfect and I love it!!!
Lilian: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Only finding the time to get to everything I want to do.
Lilian: Can you share a little of your current work with us? Sure – this is blurb for my new end of the world series, Irrevocable… book 1 is called Rendered…
How do you survive, when the only life you’ve ever known disappears in a single night?
With more friends than she could count and the daughter of two wealthy attorneys, Bailey Dewitt had a life most kids dream about. A cheerleader, the auburn haired beauty lived in a large house, where she could afford to be and do whatever she wanted. Residing in a smaller community outside of Chicago, she attended high school, getting ready for college and the fabulous career that would one day be hers. And in a single night, she lost it all; the night her parents died.
Dragged away from the only home she has ever known and forced into the care of her renegade uncle, Bailey must learn to play by a new set of rules. Faced with tough choices, she soon learns that nothing will ever be the same. When she meets Caleb Cross, she realizes her life in Illinois had been a lie. For the first time in her life, she has the chance to be happy. That is, if she can earn her place among the people in the tiny prepper community of Lawson…
Lilian: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)? I do not have to, but I sure am going to. As I said, I am going to be a full time author in a few more weeks, and I am planning to attend as many events as I can. I will be in New Orleans August 1st, San Antonio in February, and am planning to go to New Zealand in October 2016. I love meeting fans and getting out there in the thick of things!!
Lilian: Who designed the covers? Nicolene Lorette Designs did all of the New Life Series and Irrevocable Series covers. Genevieve Scholl does the Summer Spirit Novella covers. I love those girls and appreciate all their hard work – they are beautiful.
Lilian: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it? I think patience was a good lesson for me. I am very uptight about things, and learning to take my time and allow for things to unfold was huge for me.
Lilian: Do you have any advice for other writers? Be kind to each other. You don’t get to the top by stepping on others. This can be a very cut-throat business and we need to love each other and lift each other up rather than tearing others down.
Lilian: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thank you!!! For your love, support, reviews, and for giving my stories life… without readers, they are only empty pages.
Lilian: Other than writing do you have any hobbies? Actually, I was a gamer before I began writing, and that is something else that I am hoping to have more time for… Star Wars has been calling my name, and I miss all my friends from that galaxy far, far away.
Lilian: Favorite foods / Colors/ Music? Heavy metal, like 80’s hair-bands is my kind of music, and I LOVE Mexican food.
Lilian: What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching? Anything on science or history channels is fair game when I have the time or it catches my eye and distracts me from what I should be doing.
Lilian: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done? I always wanted to be an archaeologist, which is like a mix between historian and science nerd. Yup, I still would love to go try that out…
Lilian: Do you have a blog/website? If so what is it? www.samjacobey.com is my website… my third son has been constructing on it, so I have no idea if it will be finished by the time you see this, but it definitely will be coming along. It will be a great place to keep up with what I have in the works.
